Discussion Paper: A Greenhouse Gas Cap-and-Trade System For Ontario

In December 2008, an initial Discussion Paper (A Greenhouse Gas Cap-and-Trade System for Ontario) was developed by the Ontario government seeking input from stakeholders with regard to the development of a GHG cap-and-trade system. The discussion paper was posted on the Environmental Registry (EBR No. 010-5484) on January 27, 2009 and comments were accepted for 35 days until March 3, 2009.
Subsequently, a second Discussion Paper (Moving Forward: A Greenhouse Gas Cap-and-Trade System for Ontario) was posted on the Registry (EBR No. 010-6740) on May 27, 2009 and comments were accepted until July 27, 2009. To date, no final decision has been posted with regard to either of these postings.
